Republican Deficit Hypocrisy – Forbes.com
By S. Durden Taylor | November 21, 2009
Remember the Medicare drug benefit?
The medicare part D that Bush and the Republicans pushed through right before the midterm elections to buy the votes of seniors is going to cost $1 trillion dollars over 10 years with no the drug benefit had no dedicated financing, no offsets and no revenue-raisers; 100% of the cost simply added to the federal budget deficit, whereas the health reform measures now being debated will be paid for with a combination of spending cuts and tax increases, adding nothing to the deficit over the next 10 years. Now the same Republicans that voted for Medicare Part D are voting against the current health care plan because of the current deficit. PLEASE!! Great article by Bruce Bartlett that shows the underlying hypocrisy of the current Republican party. It is worth the read.
